Bringing yoga, mindful awareness and meditation to our young athletes is the wave of the future! This type of mind, body & soul 'training' can enhance strength, flexibility, balance, agility, endurance and activates the core to enhance overall performance. More important, our young warriors will experience the gift of yoga to enhance their life in every way.
Here's where the magic happens...kids are stressed out! Sports can be extremely competitive, especially for advanced athletes. Yoga helps us to be present in the moment. This level of concentration without distraction can be vital during a sport of any kind.
Being able to control your breathing pattern is vital to making decisions and calculating when performing. Oxygen is calming, and when adrenaline is pumping it can be hard to think clearly. Yoga is all about linking breath to movement at all times. When that becomes second nature, our young athletes improve their game effortlessly. It also helps athletes calmly plan their next move at a moment's notice.
Yoga also helps reduce stress hormones. Can you imagine how helpful that can be during an important game?! Most importantly, it's fun! It leaves students feeling inspired, enthusiastic and confident!
We also offer this class for private groups, if you're interested in a team atmosphere, as well as private yoga for a one-on-one customized experience. Please contact Kelly for more information.
Anna Blasi is a 200hr Yoga Teacher with an additional certification in Kids Yoga. Anna specializes in teaching our committed warriors to enhance their game through a consistent yoga practice.

I have been doing yoga with Anna for 6 months now. As a teenage athlete she has helped me become the most flexible I have ever been. She also helped me during an injury pre baseball season. My baseball team at Kennedy High School in Bellmore did yoga with Anna also during the season and loved it. My game has improved as well as my mind and focus. I play football and baseball, and Anna’s mental training has helped me focus in stressful game time situations.

The use of yoga as a supplementary exercise routine can vastly improve the performance of any sport. Yoga gives a sports player or an athlete that extra edge against the competition. The benefits of yoga in sports have been well documented and attested by successful athletes and sportsmen. The different postures coordinate the breath with the movements and by holding the postures, the various muscles of the body are stretched and strengthened. These postures are an ideal complement to other forms of exercise, such as jogging, running, and cycling as they systematically work for all the major muscle groups at the neck, back, shoulders, hips, hands, feet and even ankles. The players that went through this initial yoga class with Anna experienced all of the above and enjoyed both the mental and physical aspects of what Anna guided them on through their session with her. I highly recommend this class with Anna for all athletes.
